APC is a party of drowning men – Makarfi

APC is a party of drowning men.

A former governor of Kaduna state, Ahmed Makarfi, has said that Nigeria is being led by “drowning men”.

Makarfi who spoke while submitting his presidential expression of interest and nomination forms at the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, September 7, said members of the ruling party have no option but the use of intimidation.

The former governor condemning the incident of alleged shooting at the party’s secretariat when a former vice president Atiku Abubakar went to submit his form said such has never happened in the history of Nigeria’s politics.

He said: “This has never happened before, for a party to leave its domain to go to another party’s headquarters and do what they did, but no matter how they try, they will not succeed.”

“Intimidation will not work, we know the APC members are left with no option but intimidation. When you are losing, whatever you see you grab. A drowning man, if you give him a sword, he will hold it.

“So we are dealing with drowning men, we should understand and see them as such. We must never lose focus to wrest power from the APC, they may use whatever they want to use, but let us use our brains,” the former governor said.

Also speaking on restructuring, Makarfi said, Nigeria needs to be restructured for the interest of all citizens.
“It is the principle and policy of the PDP that Nigeria needs to be restructured in the interest of all of us.
“Nigeria needs to be secured. There is too much bloodletting in this country today. We must restore sanity and stop these killings,” he said.

The former governor also picked holes in President Muhammadu Buhari’s promise of paying N5,000 to poor Nigerians.
Meanwhile, newsmen previously reported that PDP has listed the names of its presidential aspirants ahead of 2019 election.

The opposition party said it is afraid that there might be crisis after its presidential primaries, hence it is considering the possibility of reducing the number.

Also, the chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) Walid Jibrin, said that the opposition will not force anyone out of the race.[contact-form][contact-field label=”Name” type=”name” required=”true” /][contact-field label=”Email” type=”email” required=”true” /][contact-field label=”Website” type=”url” /][contact-field label=”Message” type=”textarea” /][/contact-form]
