Kwara State Rejects Saraki’s Leadership

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Alhaji Omar Aiyelabegan, has insisted that contrary to what is presented in the public domain; members of Ajikobi Ward in Ilorin West Local Government no longer want Saraki dynasty, currently led by Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to give political directions in the state. Aiyelabegan, who is a well known critic of the Saraki dynasty and whose family compound is next to Saraki’s Agbaji compound, at a press conference in the state capital, also cautioned the national leadership of the APC against pushing aside supporters of President Muhammad Buhari in the state while welcoming defectors to the party.

The APC chieftain said that the Saraki family and the Senate President never reciprocated their acceptance as leaders with meaningful physical development in Agbaji and environs. He said: “I had been in Saraki’s opposition since 1982. Like the Saraki’s, Nigerian politicians only think and talk of themselves and not about the people.Kwara people are never given the chance to make representations on matters that concern them in government either at the executive or legislative levels.”

He alleged that Saraki only surfaces at election time to embark on cosmetic empowerment that could not make the life of the people better, adding that the people of the state had spoken loudly during the last local government elections and indicated their position on the matter.
