Super Eagles Targets Victory Over Seychelles

Three time African champions, Super Eagles of Nigeria will this Afternoon trade tackles with the Pirates of Seychelles in a must win 2019 AFCON qualifying match at Stade Linite in Victoria.

Although they will miss the services of their inspirational captain John Mikel Obi and the trio of Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina and William Troost Ekong, the Eagles are expected to fly over the Pirates.
Having lost their opening match of the group 0-2 at home against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, anything less than a win against Seychelles will surely spell doom for the Super eagles.
Already, their perennial rivals South Africa and Libya have recorded victories in their opening group matches.

Simmy Nwankwo who didn’t see much of the action at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and new Galatasaray recruit Henry Onyekuru who was left out of the squad to the 2018 World Cup due to his struggle with a knee injury will try to make a big impression.

Potential debuts also await newly invited youngsters, Samuel Kalu of Bordeaux, Semi Ajayi of Rotherham United, left-back Jamilu Collins of SC Paderborn and Arsenal loanee, Kelechi Nwakali.

It will be recalled that there was a public out-cry after Nwakali was excluded from the 2018 FIFA World Cup squad after he dazzled Nigerian football fans in the international friendly match between Super Eagles Team B and Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid in Uyo.

Despite the withdrawals due to injuries, experienced campaigners like Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo and Onazi Ogenyi who won the 2013 AFCON in South Africa should be able to guide the team to victory.

Apart from the trio of Musa, Ogenyi and Omeruo, the Eagles will also benefit from experiences of the 2018 World Cup stars like Wilfred Ndidi, Leon Balogun, Oghenekaro Etebo and Bryan Idowu.

The Pirates of Seychelles who suffered a crushing 5-1 defeat in the opening match against Libya must win today to revive their AFCON aspiration.
