A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Benue State, Dr. Paul Orhii has handed over his campaign structures to Governor Samuel Ortom.
Dr. Orhii announced the decision on today when he led members of his campaign organisation on a solidarity visit to Governor Ortom at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
He said he had done so in good faith and in realisation that it was wiser to throw his weight behind the governor after primary elections in the spirit of the re-branded PDP and in the interest of the state.
The former PDP guber aspirant who presented a list of members of his campaign team along with some campaign offices and bill boards most of which he said were domiciled in Benue South senatorial zone, expressed hope that the governor would find the structures useful for his campaign.
While congratulating Governor Ortom over his victory at the last primary election of the PDP, Dr. Orhii promised to key into his campaign programmes and activities to ensure victory in next year’s polls.
Responding, Governor Ortom accepted Dr Orhii’s gesture, describing it as a demonstration of sportsmanship.
The Governor promised that he would integrate Dr. Orhii’s campaign structures into his, soon to be constituted, saying it was better to work as a team.
He expressed sympathy with Dr. Orhii over the news of his sudden illness which was attributed to food poisoning and wished him speedy recovery.
