HON. MUSA WAYO TRIGGERS COMPLETION OF WAMBA RURAL ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT, AS LBRBDA SIGNS MoU WITH REA*

As the date for the commissioning of the Nakere Rural Electrification Project handled by Rural Electrification Agency, REA, by the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, draws nearer, a team, comprising the E.D in charge of North Central Zone of the Rural Electrification Agency and other staffers led by the former Executive Chairman of Wamba Council Area, Honourable Musa Shuaib Wayo, has visited the management of the Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority, LBRBDA, Makurdi, Benue State, to synergize and fast-track the completion of another rural electrification project in the Council Area.
The project which covers Wamba Town, Wude(1&2), Wayo Mati, Wayo Mari, Kurmi and other adjoining districts was handled by the LBRBDA but work was not moving as planned due to the nature of the project.
In the latest development, however, the LBRBDA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Rural Electrification Agency, REA, which is responsible for the Nakere Rural Electrification Project , to ensure the quick completion of the project.
After the successful signing of the agreement, it was resolved that the LBRBDA will now handle the Wamba and Wude(1&2) axis, while REA will handle the Wayo Mari, Wayo Mati, and all other adjoining villages axis of the project.
According to the E.D. in charge of North Central Zone of REA, Engineer Gabriel E. T., he said:
“We are not in Makurdi to take over the project from LBRBDA, but to understand ourselves because there is an existing network and we don’t want to duplicate projects.
“We are here with a high-powered delegation, made up of management members and representatives of REA from Abuja and Nasarawa State Electricity Company.
“So, the essence of the meeting was to liaise with the Managing Director of LBRBDA and his board to see to how we could join forces to fast-track the completion of this project at the designated time. And we are glad the meeting we
Speaking earlier, Managing Director of LBRBDA, Mahmoud O. Adra, said he and his board were happy with the outcome of the meeting, and assured to judiciously follow the tenets of the MoU reached.
On his part, Honourable Musa Shuaib Wayo, who is the brain behind the project said it was historic to witness the outcome of the meeting, promising to see to its fruition.
He called on the benefiting communities to exercise patience and give maximum supports to the contractors handling the project so as to finish the work at the stipulated time.
