Daily Trust reports that the APC Governors had last Thursday met with the President over same issue. Yesterday’s meeting lasted for about an hour at the President’s office.

Addressing State House Correspondents at the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Rochas Okorocha said they met with the President to discuss key issues affecting the party.

“We are here on delegation of governors to come and congratulate Mr President for having emerged as the presidential candidate of APC in the 2019 election.

“We have come to request from Mr President for a date for governors to come together with our followers and supporters to further inform the world of our readiness to deliver him in the 2019 election. This basically is the message we have come and to say that Mr President is more than ever ready for the entire exercise,” he said.

Okorocha said Nigerians are wiser than in previous elections and that they would ask questions before voting for contestants.

Specifically, he said the issue of the Zamfara State where the party was unable to conduct primaries was also discussed.

On the just concluded convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerged as the flag bearer, he said they are not jittery.

Also speaking, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha welcomed the steps being taken by the governors.

Mustapha said the 2019 campaigns would be driven by issues. “This campaign must be predicated upon what you are able to bring to the table for the people of Nigeria. It’s not going to be a noisy campaign; anybody preparing for noise should be prepared to receive defeat in February of 2019.”
