Senator Godswill Akpabio has called for the resignation of Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara – He described the presiding officers as minority leaders who should do the needful and resign – According to Akpabio, Saraki and Dogara are undeserving of their positions Senator Godswill Akpabio (APC-Akwa Ibom) has called on Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara to resign. Akpabio made the call in a chat with newsmen, shortly after the pandemonium that engulfed the presentation of the 2019 budget, Daily Trust reports.
Akpabio, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) some months back, described the presiding officers as minority leaders who should do the needful and resign. He said: “Yes, they couldn’t talk because they are minority leaders.
They are not even supposed to talk in the first place. They should therefore do the needful and resign honourably or face being booted out of office.” He further stated that Saraki and Dogara are undeserving of their positions.
Senator Godswill Akpabio challenged Senate President Bukola Saraki and other senators who defected from one party to another to quit their leadership positions in the chamber. Akpabio challenged other defectors to imitate him with his resignation as minority leader after leaving the opposition party. The former Akwa Ibom state governor asked Saraki to take a cue from his example and step down as Senate president.
